Leveraging his background in complex business litigation, Carey applies his training to his Family Financial and Equitable Distribution practice. He recognizes that thorough discovery and motions practice can be the differentiating factors between a good outcome and an exceptional one for his clients. Many of his Equitable Distribution cases involve high-value marital estates exceeding $5 million.

Carey has successfully assisted clients in high-conflict child custody cases, ranging from those involving severe harm allegations to cases where parents effectively co-parent and seek court orders for guidance.

His expertise also extends to child support cases, including those with unique circumstances such as developmental delays or other special needs. Additionally, he handles cases where parents' incomes exceed the North Carolina Child Support Guidelines and instances where the Department of Social Services intervenes for child support enforcement.

Moreover, Carey has dealt with challenging cases concerning marital fault for Alimony or Spousal Support, particularly when issues surrounding a spouse's income and ability to provide support arise.

In civil litigation, Carey represents clients in a wide array of cases, including contract disputes, construction law, will caveats, estate probate disputes, land disputes, and business litigation. He thrives on the complexities of these cases and recognizes the importance of motions practice and other litigation tactics. Notably, Carey achieved a significant victory alongside David in May 2023, successfully representing clients in a land litigation case in the Supreme Court of North Carolina. The case involved determining his client's homeowner rights related to a lakebed easement and Duke Power's exercise of federally granted authority to manage Lake Norman. Carey played a pivotal role as second chair in a three-week jury trial that resulted in a jury award exceeding $9 million for his client. He has also handled appellate cases in North Carolina's appeals courts and litigated cases in the Federal Courts of North Carolina and Georgia.

Carey obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and pursued his legal education at the North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham. During his studies, he interned at the North Carolina Court of Appeals in the Chambers of Justice Samuel Ervin IV. Carey's passion for politics and commitment to his community led him to engage in local politics, serving as the Chairperson for the Iredell County Democrats and running for District Court Judge in 2016. Currently, he serves as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church Statesville, where he teaches Youth Confirmation Class and acts as a Youth Group Leader. Furthermore, Carey actively contributes to his community as a member of the Ethics review board of Gordon Hospice House and his involvement with the Iredell Museums Board of Trustees and Downtown Statesville Development Corporation Board of Trustees.

Carey's roots lie in the Mitchell College neighborhood of Statesville, where he spent his entire childhood under the care of his parents, David and Sally Parker. Educated in Iredell County's public schools, Carey first attended Statesville High School before later enrolling at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA.

Following the completion of his law studies, Carey, accompanied by his wife Annie, returned to Statesville, driven by their desire to establish a family and contribute to his law firm. Together, Carey and Annie have been blessed with two daughters, Evie and Willa, and they have chosen to reside in the heart of downtown Statesville. Actively engaged in their local community, the couple are valued members of the First Presbyterian Church. As a close-knit family, they relish in outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, nurturing their shared love for nature. Additionally, Carey finds immense joy in the art of fly fishing and cherishes his role as an avid outdoorsman.
